Clarifying Mud Hair Mask

My hair regimen is rather simple and structured.  Just like the foods I consume, I’m also cognizant of the products I use in my hair.  Excessive use of products is bound to cause product build-up.  Here’s a simple recipe  to achieve  “clean and moisturized” just washed hair.

Note:  I always  check and test new products on fresh clean hair.  Testing a new product on dirty hair with excessive product build-up is bound to yield unflattering results.

1 cup creamy base (conditioner)
2 tbsp bentonite clay
2 tbsp amla
1 tbsp aloe vera juice
1/4 tsp ACV
1 tbsp EVOO
1 tbsp jojoba oil
1/2 castor oil
1/2 avocado oil
1/2 tbsp honey
10 drops grape seed extract
Essential oils: lavender, rosemary, tea tree, sage, cinnamon & ylang ylang

Whip all ingredients with a hand mixer and apply to hair and/face for 30 – 60 minutes. Wash hair thoroughly to remove product from hair.  Click here to see my hair regimen.

on the previous page you said put the mixture in the microwave for an hour – are we microwaving the mixture or are we just letting it sit off to the side???

    • Do NOT microwave the mixture. Placing the finished mixture in the mircowave serves as an incubator to allow the mixture to cure before applying it to your hair. Curing cuts down on the length of time that you need to leave the mixture on your hair. If you cure the mixture for an hour, you can remove the mask from your hair after one hour.
